If you are under 18, the ‘Younger Driver Resources Site’ is your complete guide for navigating the complexities of the road and the New York State Graduated Driver License Law (GDL). It is designed to support and keep you informed at every step.
Practicing critical driving maneuvers like parallel parking, three-point (K) turns, and observation for your road test is important. Could you make sure to use a reliable vehicle for practice? These skills will help you feel confident and prepared for your driving exam, including the five-hour pre-licensing class.
Benefits of taking this course:
1. Reduce as many as four (4) points on your driving record. The DMV computer will automatically note your eligibility to receive the reduction.
2. You will receive a minimum 10% reduction in the base rate of your automobile and motorcycle liability and collision insurance premiums each year for three years.

- Allow enough travel time to reach your destination on schedule.
- Adjust your schedule to prevent driving during times with the most highway traffic.
- If you are late, please feel free to call ahead so you can relax.
- Do not drive when angry, upset, or exhausted.
- Make your vehicle comfortable. Listen to relaxing music and prevent conditions that make you anxious.
